Utah is the beehive state and I'm pretty sure this is a bee. Some orchids can mimic bee pheromones to attract wasps as pollinators. Still, it really looks like a bee, and that is definitely not an orchid so I'm going with bee. There's a wasp towards the end of the slides here.
